~@~~Come Early, Stay Late~~@~

Saturday July 18, 2009 is gonna be big!!! Weed, Ca having their annual Carnevale full of live music, rides, games, food, and fun, children running to and fro, with sticky candy and all their friends!! The Butler Carnival company comes this time every year and does a fantastic job of transforming the Weed Bel-Air park on College Ave. into a wonderland of color and excitement. A personal favorite of mine is watching my 4 yr old boy jump up and down excited to get on the swing that goes around and around and around.......

There is an awesome line up of Live Music through out Carnevale, the line up will be coming out soon in the paper.

All day Saturday the River Run Art Gallery, and the Turn of the Centuries Fine Art Gallery will be open for public viewings and will be hosting artists receptions, I love experiencing the art of Weed.

After all the kids are worn out and tired and ready to drift off into thoughts of sugar plums and bright lights, it's time for us grown ups to have a little fun.
At 9pm PaPa's Place will be filling up with folks from all over the state, (over 21 yrs old only!) to see ET and the Night Shift, a blues and rock band, be ready to dance! Papa's place is serving food late into the night, homemade chili, homemade Italian Sausage, hot wings, Hot Dogs, Chili Dogs, nachos.......
You can even order, one bourbon, one scotch, and one beer~ LOL

The Mt. Shasta Brewing Company located right next door to the Carnival will have a reggae band in their tasting room for evening entertainment. They are serving all kinds of food from their new menu, spinach artichoke dip (mmmmmmm thanks Wendy), wraps, Weed Bakery Bread, sandwiches, hot dogs and brats soaked in beer, chips and salsa! My favorite thing about the brewery is the $1 beers...yummmmm Weed Ale Porter!

"The Wildflowers of Weed" ~ Artist Reception

Nikki Lee Hill and Brenda Woods have spent the last 12 months photographing and interviewing the small country town of Weed, CA. Weed is a beautiful mountain town with a wide range of personalities, beleifs, interests, and well we're basically a melting pot of diversity.

"Wildflowers of Weed" is a portrait of Weed as seen through its people, and it's been the talk of town here, we're all ready to see the final pictures chosen and the stories captured. The two artists will be putting together a book of the show, coming soon.....

The reception is Tuesday June 30th, 2009 from 5:3opm until 8pm at the College of the Siskiyous Library Lobby. There will be live music from "The Shaver's and all their Folking Instruments", this couple plays everything from the dulcimer, fiddle, guitar, and mandolin.... The banjo will only be played by Billy Shaver, who by the way represented Northern California in the Grange Hall statewide talent show!!!!

This artists reception is gonna be a big event here in Weed!! Everyone, and their neighbors, family, and friends will be here in attendance reading each other's stories, some of which we've heard before, and some are all new to town!!
For directions please contact College of the Siskiyous (530) 938-5555
